Audio Assault – Transient+ 1.1 Win & Mac

By | December 9, 2017

Audio Assault – Transient+ 1.1 Win & Mac
Size 86 Mb

Tighten up a tubby kick drum, remove unwanted room tone, emphasize the decay of your toms, transform guitar DI’s, add brilliance to a vocal, and so much more!

Attack
The Attack parameter controls the strength of the detected transients.
A high attack will increase the perceived attack of an instrument, giving the impression of a high velocity note being played.
A low attack will give the opposite effect.

Sustain
The Sustain parameter controls the strength of the detected sustained signal post-transient.
A high sustain will increase the amplitude of the sustain portion of the signal, allowing you to increase the decay of the source.
A low sustain will give the opposite effect.

2X
The 2X control doubles the effect of the respective Attack and Sustain controls.

Clip
Activates a clipper on the output of each respective section, which gives the output of Multi Transient a hard digital ceiling. This can be used to control the strength of the transients when the 2X switch is activated by clipping the transient if it gets too hot. For exaggerated clipped effects, push into the clipper using the Output control.

Output
Dials in the right amount of output gain using a linear output circuit.

Phase
Inverts the polarity of the plugin’s output.

Bypass
Brings Multi Transient in and out of bypass.

Mix
Blends between the completely dry signal and the output of the channel’s transient detection and shaping circuit. Allows you to find just the right overall blend of the shaped signal, or to create more subtle parallel transient shaping effects.

Compatibility
Transient+ is available in VST/VST3/RTAS/AAX and AU* on Mac & Windows in both 32 & 64 bit versions.
*AU is only available on Mac.

Dance Music Production Sessions 04 Compressors

Dance Music Production Sessions 04 Compressors
Size 862 Mb

The theory and practice of studio audio compressors and compression in dance music.

Studio compressors form an absolute essential part of any dance musicians set-up. Hardware or software, what was once an imperceptible processor, it has become central to the sound of dance music today. However, there is more to using compression than just dropping it onto an audio track

Compressors are designed to be a transparent processor. If they’re used correctly, they shouldn’t be noticeable but this also makes it one of the most least understood processes in music production. After all, if you can’t hear it, how do you know you’ve applied it correctly?

For this sessions tutorial we lift the lid off what is often considered one of the most confusing processes in the studio. We not only examine the controls and how they affect the audio, we also look into the different types of compression from Opto to VCA, FET and MU, and discuss the audible differences between each to help you decide which is the best type of compressor to use in your projects.

We also discuss how compression has moved from being an imperceptible processor into an obvious audio effect that is now requisite for most dance music styles, and how to use as such. A thorough and concise understanding of compressors and audio compression will not only improve the sound of your mixes but also help in all stages of the production process from recording to mixing.

Tutorial Runtime: 3hr 35minutes

Tutorial Contents:

Session 01: Compressors and Levelling Amplifiers: 20 minutes.
In this first session, we introduce the principle of musical dynamics and why compressors were introduced into recording studios

Session 02: Compression Theory: 38 minutes.
Here we examine the theory of compression including a look at logarithmic scales, decibels, threshold, ratio’s, attack, release, make-up gain and how knee’s operate on a compressor.

Session 03: Acoustic Science: 25 Minutes.
For this session we take a look at some basic acoustic science and discover how our hearing reacts to different stimuli alongside examining the principles of Phons and Sons

Session 05: Practical Compression: 40 minutes
We now put all the theory we’ve discussed into practice and look at how we set up and use a compressor to prevent peaks and also level audio.

Session 05: Different Compressors: 70 Minutes
Any discussion about compression leads to the subject of harmonic distortion and different compression artefacts. Here we discuss the differences between Opto, FET, VCA and Vari MU compressors alongside listening to some examples of these compressors in action.

Session 06: Compression Techniques: 22 Minutes
We take a quick look at some advanced compression techniques consisting of parallel compression, serial compression, EQ/Sibilance control and the now ubiquitous production method of pumping a mix .

Splice Sounds OSHI’s Care Package
Size 201 Mb

Oshi, the London-based producer moniker of Joshua Brennan, has had a breakout year. His remix of Kali Uchis’ “Ridin Round” gained a co-sign from Lorde, and his tracks have amassed millions upon millions of streams on Spotify and Soundcloud. His bouncy, playful blend of hip-hop, pop, and R&B eschews boundary – hints of jazz and one-of-a-kind synth programming interweave his productions seamlessly.

His penchant for combining quirky textures with delicate, heartful chord progressions and melodies has gained him a dedicated and excitable following, who now get to deep dive into the producer’s toolbox. Find twinkly synths and hand pianos, glitchy FX and textures, alongside…some guttural screaming? Oshi’s pack, like his music, is full of surprises. “hey there, it’s ur friendly neighbourhood oshi. i just wanted to give you guys a little note saying thank u for buying (or torrenting, u little fuckers), i appreciate ur love and support completely and i wish you the best in ur music making endeavours. always remember that it isn’t the sounds that make you, it’s the dedication and honesty with ur art. but enough of the sappiness, go make some bangers!!!! i love you all <3” – Oshi

Heavyocity Master Sessions Ensemble Drums Collection KONTAKT

By | December 8, 2017

Heavyocity Master Sessions Ensemble Drums Collection KONTAKT
Size 1.66 Gb

Every time Heavyocity releases something new I’m eager to see what they have been up to. I hold them in high regard when it comes to creating interesting and good sounding Kontakt libraries. Master Sessions (MS from now on) is apparently what seems to be a new series from Heavyocity. First in the release line we have Ensemble Drums which is available as a “Kits” library or a “Loops” library as well as a collection of both. This review is about the Master Sessions Ensemble Drums Collection.

Ensemble Drums – Kits
Lets take a look at the Kit part of the collection first. There is what Heavyocity calls “Organic versions” as well as “FX Versions” of the Kit. The kit in itself is the same, it’s just processed a bit different among the different patches. There are 5 menu patches (containing the full kit), 7 single patches and 19 FX versions. Also, for each patch there is a “HI RAM” version as well. Let’s take a deeper look at the “Ens Drums Menu (Organic) – HI RAM” patch.

It weighs in at roughly 426 MB RAM. It has two different bass drums, three toms, a snare and an extra “click kick”. In shear numbers it doesn’t sound so special but when you begin to pound the keys it sounds awesome. Yes it’s missing a hi hat and some other stuff to be called a drum kit but it doesn’t matter, it’s not the focus of MS Ensemble Drums. What it does very well is to add a whole lot of body and SLAM to your palette. Each of the sounds have been recorded with three different mics, you can think of them as close, stage and hall. Each of the sounds can be positioned on a virtual stage and this is where you place them in your mix. Close? Ok. Far away on the left? Ok. Since the drums in the ALL patch all are mapped to two adjacent keys each you can easily setup one that is closer and one a bit further back in the mix.

Since you are given control over the mix of this three mics not just in level but also in stereo placement and pitch (yes you can pitch the far mics up 4-5 semitones for a kind of punchier sound!) as well as separate three-band EQ for each microphone position there is actually little need to have anything but a stereo out from this kit. Brilliant!

For those of you familiar with other libraries from Heavyocity I’m happy to say that yes, the Punish knob is available in MS Ensemble Drums as well. This button alone does about 30% of the sound, no really! Want a dynamic, nice sound? Don’t touch it (well maybe just a tiny bit?). Want a bit grittier and a more in-you-face sound? Put it at 50%. Want to make that famous drum sound from “In the Air Tonight” jealous? Turn it up all the way! Depending on the track you’re working on this button can help you set the atmosphere with a simple little twist. What it does? A bit of distortion and compression at the same time I think, in a very pleasing way (for drum sounds at least).

Ensemble Drums – Loops

The Loops part of the collection is actually divided in two one could say. First there are the “Menu” patches which gives you a different loop per key and then there is the “Singles” patches which gives you one loop with different slices of the loop mapped out on different keys. How you prefer to use it may vary and that the choice even exists is great. Sometimes a single loop split in smaller parts will be the way to go and in other circumstances it will be the loop per key method. Furthermore the loops are divided in “Straight” patches and “Triplet” patches and there is even a “Mutator” variation of each.

In the menu programs each loop has it’s own three-band EQ with gain, frequency and Q-controls. Each loop is also tuneable between -24 to +24 semitones. The ability to pitch with the added ability to EQ each loop on it’s own makes it possible to create some high-pitched driving rhythms with ease, even if the base sound is heavy ensemble drums. The samples have plenty of information in them to shift them in different ways to new sonic places.

The loops also have the “Mutator” which in its most basic form is an arpeggiator or a step sequencer, depending on how you look at it. I would like to call the “Mutator” a kind of sequencing slicer. It gives you control over the loops in a very interesting way. Each step in the sequence can trigger a new slice, either from the loop you’re actually playing or from adjacent notes (loops) on the keyboard. So when you set a step to “-5” you are actually telling it to play different slices from another loop -5 semitones from the one you triggered. Confusing? Yes, at first maybe but after a few minutes you’ll start to grasp the usefulness of this little gem. Read the manual if you’re lost, it explains it all in detail.

Soniccouture Electric Pianos v1.0 Ableton Pack

By | December 8, 2017

Soniccouture Electric Pianos v1.0
Size 798 Mb

Get the authentic sound of the Rhodes Stage 73 and Wurlitzer 200A electric pianos. Carefully sampled at multiple velocities and recorded with vintage equipment for ultra-realistic sound and feel. Comes with 70 Instrument Racks providing all the classic keyboard sounds.

These classic electric piano models have their origins in the 1970s, and their characteristic sounds – from soft and chiming to raspy and biting – feature prominently in the jazz, fusion and rock music of that era. The sampling experts at Soniccouture bring these instruments up to date with their perfect integration into Ableton Live while retaining the full spectrum of sound that made the originals so beloved.

Keys For Real

In order to ensure an ultra-realistic dynamic response, every single note of these electric pianos has been sampled at many velocity levels with even the release sound of each key sampled separately. In total, Electric Pianos contains over 3 GB of samples. To get the proper old-school tones, a selection of vintage outboard equipment was used during the recording process. The result is an eminently playable collection of instruments bursting with character – just drop one into a MIDI track and get grooving.

Electric Pianos comes with 70 Instrument Racks. These presets recreate many classic keyboard sounds and feature tweakable settings for effects such as vibrato, auto-wah and auto-panning, delay and reverb. Many of the presets include EQ controls to dial in the exact warmth or bite that is typical of the Rhodes and Wurlitzer pianos. For the discerning keyboard player, velocity curves and note release controls may be adjusted to your taste.

The Instrument Racks are divided into ‘Full’ versions which are closer to the natural un-effected sound of the instrument and ‘Lite’ versions that load quicker and tend toward the funky and experimental side. Along with the Instrument Racks, Electric Pianos includes a selection of raw Simpler presets for building your own Racks.
