U-he ColourCopy v1.0.0.7675-R2R

U-he Colour Copy v1.0.0.7675

A virtual analog effect inspired by classic bucket-brigade delays (BBD), but extended with modern features. We called our new baby “Colour Copy” because it can deliver the kind of colouration people still love in classic BBD units, but with a wider variety of colours. Colour Copy started life as the little delay unit called “Lyrebird” we built into Repro-1, but the sound was too good not to be developed further and become an FX plug-in.

Colour Copy in the spotlight…

  • BBD-style analog delay, for the smoothest possible pitch effects
  • unique colour morphing, with saturation for non-linear effects such as distortion / resonance
  • 1ms to 1s or host-synched time base, scaled via rate control from 25% to 400%
  • dynamic ducking via envelope follower
  • LFO (with dynamic frequency and depth) can modulate rate, tap position or amplitude.
  • MIDI note tracking and Freeze button (infinite loop) for wildest experimental effects
  • powerful preset browser with tag and/or text search functions
  • independent input and feedback routing options allow all possible stereo or mono combinations
  • 100 factory presets, NKS-compatible
  • UI instantly resizable from 70% to 200%
  • custom remote control via MIDI CC, 14-bit resolution option

In most digital delays the delay time alters the size of the buffer. If you quickly modulate or sweep the delay time on a typical digital unit, unmusical glitches propagate through the feedback as the buffer is shortened or lengthened. Like a real BBD, Colour Copy changes the internal samplerate instead (i.e. how fast the “buckets” pass on their content), and this is why Colour Copy is smooth with a capital SMOO!

Features

Colours

During development we soon realized that we could capture the essence of the entire range of classic bucket brigade delays – from the low-range rumbling, slowly evolving delays to the highly resonant, screaming characters. A single knob lets you continuously blend between the five finely-tuned “colour” macros. The differences may be subtle, but each one is rich in detail. In addition to obvious differences in frequency bandwidth, each comes with its own noise and dynamic characteristics, frequency loss over time, and several other qualities. The Saturation knob controls how prominent or subtle those characteristics should be, in case you want to dial back the colouration to better fit in the mix. Finally, a Brightness knob lets you adjust the bandwidth.

Flexibility

Colour Copy is capable of a huge variety of different delay-based effects. With delay times ranging from under a millisecond to several seconds, you can create anything from comb-filter and flange/chorus effects to regular ping-pong delays and longer “looper” effects. The routing options let you mix or swap the input and feedback signals independently or even invert the feedback phase for various phase cancellation effects when delay times are set very short. Additionally, unlike hardware BBD units, Colour Copy’s left and right output “taps” can be placed anywhere along the delay lines. This feature lets you move echos independently “forward in time” for e.g. ping-pong or “rushing” delays as well as various stereo chorus or flanger effects. You never knew you’d want three different ways to create a ping-pong effect!

Animation

Colour Copy comes with a stereo LFO that can be used to modulate either the delay rate, the tap positions or the delay amplitude. With a range of 0.05Hz to 20Hz (as times: 20s to 50ms) the LFO can create chorus, vibrato and tremolo effects. Crank up the modulation depth for deep pitch-shifting. An envelope follow signal derived from the input signal can be used to modulate the LFO frequency and depth, adding realtime dynamics to the effects.

Colour Copy comes with the obligatory ducking compressor, but with a unique twist: You can select whether to duck the entire delay output or just the feedback signal. This latter option leaves the very first delay unaffected, preserving the overall stereo “space” while preventing the sonic mayhem that high regeneration often causes.

Performance Control

Some people like to perform on their BBD hardware, pitching the regeneration up and down by twisting the rate knob. We took Colour Copy a step further in this direction by adding a pair of creative features: Firstly, a freeze button that loops the contents of the delay buffer for as long as you like. Secondly, MIDI key control so that you can play Colour Copy like a mono synth – each octave up doubles the delay rate.

Wavetables

How it works

Hive 2 includes Wavetables! These appear as multiple waveforms, and are controlled in the central hexagon. You can manually select wavetables, modulate the wave position via the matrix, or even scan through them automatically using the envelope and loop options (which let you animate wavetables without the need for an extra modulation source).

Multi-Table

Wavetables can be split into multiple parts (up to 16), effectively creating a 2-dimensional oscillator. For instance, a wavetable with 30 frames can be split into 3 x 10 frames by setting Tables to 3. The lower Position knob will crossfade between those 3. This feature opens up a second dimension of wavetable scanning, such as velocity crossfade or multisample support.

UHM scripting

Want to go even deeper? Many of Hive’s factory wavetables are not samples, but “.uhm” files containing scripts written in a proprietary wavetable generation and manipulation language. If you’re interested in writing your own scripts, grab this document (also included in the Hive 2 installer)…

Get the .uhm scripting guide

More features

Shape Sequencer

The Shape Sequencer is where you can create complex modulations and/or rhythmic patterns. It offers a comfortable way to ‘gamify’ rhythm creation. While it may look like a baby version of what other synths have to offer, Hive’s shape sequencer can do a lot more than first meets the eye…

Function Generators

Hive’s Function Generators combine simple envelope functionality with LFO, slew limiter (a.k.a. envelope follower) and gate control. Each of the three outputs has its own ‘crosshair’ you can drag & drop onto any modulation target, onto the Scope or even onto the modulation matrix source fields. Triggered and/or modulated by the LFOs, the Shape Sequencer and each other, Hive’s Function Generators can create some truly mind-bending motion effects!

Arpeggiator and Sequencer

The ARP/SEQ panel in the central hexagon is where you make rhythmic and melodic loops.

Flexible Effects

Hive’s hexagon includes 7 different effects: Distortion, Reverb, Equalier, Chorus, Delay, Compressor, and Phaser.

Modulation Matrix

Hive 2 features a 12-unit modulation matrix (6 units per page) which lets you connect modulation sources (LFOs, envelopes, shape sequencer, MIDI controls etc.) to countless targets, optionally via a second modulation source. 2 targets can be assigned per unit, each with its own modulatable depth control. The row of 5 modifiers per target can alter the curvature, rectify, quantize, sample/hold or slew-limit the modulation signal: This is seriously deep stuff, but it doesn’t get in the way!

Performance controls

On this page you’ll find a pad with 4 controls – simply connect them to your MIDI controllers for maximum fun on stage. Other views are also available.

Automatic parameter scanning

Hive 2 is able to assign XY controls to parameters automatically. It looks into the structure of presets that have unused XY controls, and assigns them to the most appropriate XY macros (pre-defined sets of parameters). Of course you can create your own XY control definitions, with up to 4 targets per dimension.

Scope

Animated graphics in software synthesizers not only look cool, but can also help you program your sounds by showing you what’s happening in real time. Hive’s Scope is especially useful for displaying how the parts of complex modulation interact (e.g. the Function Generators with an LFO).

U-he Satin v1.3.1.7414-R2R

U-he Satin v1.3.1.7414 [WINDOWS]

Nothing else quite sounds like tape. Satin puts the legacy of tape recording in your hands: from top-of-the-line multi-track consoles to humble cassette decks. All the good (saturation, transient smoothing, compression) as well as the bad (noise modulation, flutter, hiss) qualities are under your control. Construct your (im)perfect tape machine.

Satin in the spotlight…

  • Lush analogue tape sound
  • Includes historical developments in tape technology
  • Control up to 8 instances of Satin at once using the Group panel
  • 5 popular noise reduction encoder / decoder models
  • Service panel: Controls for hiss, wow and flutter, bias, head gap, azimuth, saturation, high frequency compression and more
  • Modern or vintage tape material
  • Internal sample rate up to 384kHz
  • 5 circuit models for recording and reproduction EQs
  • Stereo delay mode (2 or 4 heads) with multiple-mono, cross or ping-pong routing
  • Tape flange mode with classic through-zero flanging
  • Adjustable tape speed from 1.87 to 30ips
  • Pre-emphasis and soft clipping options
  • Preset browser with search functions
  • NKS FX compatible
  • Resizable UI from 70% to 200%
  • Skinnable UI
  • 120+ factory presets

Once reserved for major studios, digital recording has become widespread. It offers pristine sound and comfortable editing at a fraction of the cost of multitrack tape. Despite all the advantages, however, digital audio can easily sound too clean and impersonal. So musicians, producers and audio engineers have turned to traditional analogue tools to bring some life back into overly clinical recordings. A world of non-linear behaviours, distortion, saturation and much more arises during tape recording and playback. Bringing these coveted characteristics of magnetic tape into the digital realm, in unprecedented quality—this is what Satin is all about.

Features

The sound

That tape sound depends on interaction between the various parts of a tape machine. Each contributes in one way or another—enhancing, reducing, combining—to generate the final sound.

Satin models individual components and lets them interact in the same way. For maximum flexibility in sound shaping, Satin is a toolkit of alternative parts, not an emulation of a single machine. Build your own custom tape unit. The perfect final sheen for your mixdown, or “glue” multiple drum tracks together, decode old NR-encoded cassette tape, or misuse Satin for extreme effects.

Delay and flange

After developing the components for a tape machine toolkit, our minds turned other popular tape-based machines. Delay and flange immediately jumped to mind.

In service

Imagine opening up a tape machine, peeking “under the hood” and tinkering with the parts. That is what service technicians used to do, and it is what the Service Panel in Satin is for. It gives you detailed control over some of the more esoteric and characterful elements.

In the Tape section are perhaps the more readily identifiable attributes of tape recording: hiss, asperity, wow & flutter, crosstalk and bias. Dial in a little of each for a retro vibe or “glue”. Dial in the extreme settings and you can end up with the sound of poor quality tape left in someone’s basement far too long.

The Repro Head(s) parameters control the physical attributes of the tape heads. With Gap Width and Bump you can cut or boost certain frequencies and introduce resonances and fluctuations. Azimuth pushes the audio off-centre for interesting spatial effects, mimicking a skewed tape head.

Finally the Circuit section lets you change the inner EQ circuitry. Included are various industry standard EQ curves, should you want to mimic specific machines. But Satin goes a step further by allowing independent selection of the recording and reproduction EQ curves. Which you can abuse for weird processing effects, or to correct EQ errors in old recordings (see below).

Decoding

Selectable Compander and Circuit settings make Satin useful as a format converter.

If you have a tape recording with an unsuitable EQ, using Circuit’s independent RecEQ and ReproEQ selectors you can set a new target EQ curve and make changes. Similarly, Compander can handle audio recorded with specific noise reduction (NR) encodings. Just run it through Satin with Decoder set to match the known NR encoding type.

U-he Repro-1 v1.1.0.6794 [WIN]

U-he Repro-1 v1.1.0.6794-R2R

U-he Repro-1 v1.1.0.6794

Repro – Two classics, recreated

Repro dives into the past for analogue inspiration, meticulously modelling two famous synthesizers. Every detail of the original was captured using component-level modelling technology to create the most authentic model possible. All the subtle characteristics and quirks found in the originals are present in Repro. One product, one installer, two synths.

Repro-1 in the spotlight…

  • Powerful analogue sound using component-level modelling
  • 2 multi-wave oscillators: saw/pulse and saw / triangle / pulse
  • Tweak page for adjusting component behaviour
  • 4-pole resonant lowpass filter
  • Proudly monophonic
  • Arpeggiator with latch mode
  • Twin 32-step sequencer, 64 steps if chained
  • Built-in effects: analog-style delay / chorus, EQ / resonator, plate reverb, sonic conditioner, wave folder
  • 3 modulation sources controlling 5 destinations
  • Sleepy mode to save CPU when Repro-1 is idle
  • Host-syncable LFO with 3 waveforms
  • Over 500 factory presets

Repro-1 is a fierce monosynth: The classic design gives you immediate access to all the raw power: Two oscillators, self-oscillating 4-pole lowpass filter, arpeggiator, step sequencer, the unique modulation section, and five stomp-box effects which can be arranged in any order. Hard working, raw sounding and immediately playable, it’s a simple and intuitive synthesizer which belies a deep feature set capable of a wide range of sounds.

Basics and history

The plug-in is a component-level model of perhaps the most powerful-sounding monophonic keyboard ever built. In the early 1980s, polyphonic synthesizers were almost within reach of the average musician. To be commercially viable, any new monophonic instrument had to be cheap but very capable. Fat drones, cutting leads, funky basses, quirky sci-fi sound effects – this synthesizer delivered on all counts.

The circuit design made good use of standard Curtis chips and the little onboard sequencer was more than just a welcome extra. Despite its molded plastic panel and the limitations of monophony, it sold surprisingly well and is generally recognized as an iconic piece of synthesizer history.

Our plug-in version includes all the lovable quirks of this classic synth, but with a much more capable sequencer, lots of presets, several under-the-hood tweaks, more modulation options, and as a plus: a great collection of cute stomp-box effects.

Features

Tweaks panel

Apart from being unashamed eye-candy, the Tweaks page is there to let you change the fundamental behaviour of individual modules. There are 5 user-adjustable jumpers (mini circuit connectors) and 5 module tweak selectors. While on this page, all the main controls of the synthesizer are still accessible.

Beside the option to modify the synth’s fundamental characteristics through jumpers and selectors, the panel also includes access to the Microtuning section with many included presets.

Sequencer

The sequencer in the original hardware may have been a stroke of genius. Repro-1’s version lets you step-record two patterns of up to 32 notes each, which are also saved with the preset and support copy/paste of pattern’s presets between different instances of the plug-in.

Other than having more steps than the original, the integrated sequencer supports per-step velocity, a rest button to add pauses, the ability to record your own sequences through a MIDI controller, and other improvements.

Stomp-boxes

Repro-1 ships with a set of 5 high quality effects in the shape of stomp-boxes. From subtle to extreme adjustments, this section expands the analogue synthesizer’s capabilities beyond expectations.

The effects section includes Jaws (wavefolder), Lyrebird (a flexible delay, which inspired the creation of Colour Copy), RESQ (semi-parametric EQ or resonator), Drench (a lush plate reverb), and Sonic Conditioner (a stereo saturator and transient designer – to add the right amount of gelatine to your patches). All effects are rearrangeable through drag and drop in the FX Chain section.

Formats

Repro is not a standalone product, it requires host software. Repro is compatible with nearly all DAWs.

FSS Trance MIDI Essentials Volume 3

FSS Trance MIDI Essentials Volume 3

Produced in collaboration with David Sherlock and Nils Huzen (Talamanca), we are proud to present Trance MIDI Essentials Volume 3.

This product contains 295+ truly release quality uplifting, progressive and driving trance MIDI construction kits, each containing associated MIDI files, FL Studio project file, MP3 demonstration and synthesizer presets for every melodic element.

Each MIDI construction kit is either 16 or 32 bars in length and all kits contain interesting chord variations and ‘tweaks’ on the last 8-16 bars – something we felt allot of other MIDI packs lacked in the past. Additionally, multiply elements are included per kit such as pads, chord leads, arpeggios, plucks, basses, sub melodies and much more. Fundamentally, the construction kits are complete tracks (or break down melodies) with all the core elements being included to inspire your own productions.

Every kit is organized into a neat folder structure (with BPM and key labelling in place), with MP3 demonstration and FL Studio project file included in every folder, so you can start working instantly once you find a kit that inspires you.

Additionally, for FL Studio 11 users we have included 144+ Chopper Score presets that are specifically crafted to work in comparison with the included MIDI files. Chopper scores (or ‘slice’ patterns) transform your otherwise static chord progressions (long sustained notes) into rhythmically pleasing note sequences. We have included every popular trance rhythmic sequence including chord/progressive leads, buzz basses, rolling and sub basses.

The chopper tool within FL Studio 11 allows you to quickly audition different rhythmic patterns in real-time via the file browser, allowing you to quickly and easily find the right groove for your track and generate literally thousands of different variations of a single construction kit or chord progression, completely changing the atmosphere of the kit.

For non-FL Studio users we have included every chopper score as a standard MIDI file so you can study and utilize the rhythmic sequences in the sequencer of your choice.

Both David and Nils are genuinely passionate about creating great music and want to deliver the most inspirational, highest quality Trance MIDI pack on the market. They held literally nothing back while producing this pack and included hundreds of melodies they would actually use in their own productions.

Simply put, every construction kit is written and performed with the genuine intention of being something release worthy in the right hands with no ‘filler’ content thrown in. We give you our guarantee this will be the most inspirational MIDI pack you purchase to date!

FSS Trance MIDI Essentials Bundle

By | January 19, 2020

Freshly Squeezed Samples Trance MIDI Essentials Bundle

FSS Trance MIDI Essentials Bundle

Produced in collaboration with David Sherlock and Fredrik Miller, we are proud to present the Trance MIDI Essentials Bundle.

The Trance MIDI Essentials Bundle contains volumes 1 and 2 of the highly popular Trance MIDI Essentials series. Both volumes contain a diverse selection of carefully crafted construction kits as well as synthesizer presets. Accompanying FL Studio project files are also included, making this bundle the ultimate creative and inspirational tool for trance producers.

Every construction kit in this bundle has been written and performed with the genuine intention of being “release-worthy.” You won’t find any low quality “filler” content in this bundle. Instead, you’ll find over 420 inspirational and usable MIDI construction kits that are sure to be used frequently in your studio.

Both David and Fredrik are passionate about creating great music, and want to deliver the highest quality trance MIDI packs on the market. With brilliantly composed melodies and intricate accompanying elements, this comprehensive bundle has an unparalleled aura of quality.

About the Creators

David is well known for his work with Freshly Squeezed Samples and his previous artist project Driftmoon, where he had signed releases on Armada Music, Enhanced Recordings, Blue Soho, and Always Alive Recordings. Furthermore, his previous MIDI packs (both freeware and commercial) have resulted in over 400 signed releases on every major label, being used by beginner and experienced artists alike.

On the other end of the spectrum, Fredrik is a full time seasoned jazz musician with a highly melodic and inspirational approach to music. He has produced music for TV, radio, and advertisement purposes. With all his work starting out on the piano, Fredrik’s natural approach to composing and arranging melodies shines through in this product.

What’s Included?

Among the 420+ MIDI construction kits you’ll find MIDI files for pads, chord leads, arpeggios, plucks, basses, sub melodies, and much more.

Length-wise, the majority of the construction kits in the Trance MIDI Essentials bundle are 16 bars long, with a few being 32 bars. We’ve made sure to include variations and tweaks in the longer progressions to keep the composition interesting. Many other MIDI packs fall short in this area, and come packed with short, repetitive melodies and chord progressions that lack quality in terms of composition.

Additionally, you’ll find FL Studio chopper files in this pack that can be easily used with the included MIDI files. Chopper files (or “slice” patterns) transform your otherwise static chord progressions (long sustained notes) into rhythmically pleasing sequences. We’ve added every popular trance rhythm including chord/progressive leads, buzz basses, rolling, and sub basses.

The chopper tool within FL Studio 11 allows you to quickly audition different rhythmic patterns in real-time via the file browser, allowing you to quickly and easily find the right groove for your track and generate thousands of different variations of a single construction kit or chord progression.

For non-FL Studio users we have included every chopper score as a standard MIDI file so you can study and utilize the rhythmic sequences in the DAW of your choice.

This pack is incredibly comprehensive, which is why we’ve organized it into a neat folder structure that includes BPM and key information as well as the supplementary MP3 demonstration files and FL Studio project files. It’s quick and easy to navigate so that you can get to work instantly after finding a kit that inspires you.

Volume 1

The first volume in the pack features euphoric arpeggiated sequences, dreamy piano melodies, and much more. Both packs are trance-orientated, but Volume 1 leans slightly towards the lighter, more melodic side of uplifting trance.

The 210+ construction kits in Volume 1 are inspired and influenced by artists such as:

Temple One, Dan Stone, Daniel Kandi, Ultimate, Moonsouls, Activa, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Max Braiman, Falcon, Adam Szabo, Lemon & Einar K, Simon Patterson, Luke Bond, ReOrder, Driftmoon, Ferry Tayle, Airbase, Nitrous Oxide, Fast Distance, Super8 & Tab, Dave Parkinson, Will Atkinson, Sebastian Brandt, Solis & Sean Truby, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Suncatcher, Solarstone, Jorn Van Deynhoven and many more!

Volume 2

Volume 2 leans towards the harder, faster style of trance. In this volume you’ll hear more “classical” melodies in addition to darker elements. Combined with Volume 1, this bundle provides you with an endless amount of ideas and inspiration.

The 215+ construction kits in Volume 2 are inspired and influenced by artists such as:

Will Atkinson, Photographer, Allen Watts, The Thrillseekers, Allen & Envy, Cold Blue, Temple One, Daniel Kandi, John O’Callaghan, Activa, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Bryan Kearney, Will Rees, Ian Standerwick, ReOrder, Simon Patterson, John Askew, Jordan Suckley, Adam Ellis, Chris Metcalfe, Sean Tyas, XGenic, Lostly, Sebastian Brandt, Dave Parkinson, Sneijder, Aly & Fila, Jorn Van Deynhoven, Ben Nicky, Manuel Le Saux, Darren Porter, James Dymond, Bjorn Akesson, Nitrous Oxide, Lee Osborne, Daniel Skyver, Dave Asprey, Harmonic Rush, Matt Bukovski, Airbase, Luke Bond, Sonic Element, Indecent Noise, and many others.
