Splice Originals Disco Strings

Splice Originals Disco Strings MULTIFORMAT

Dramatic at their core, these disco strings could find a home on the dancefloor, woven into a lush soundscape, or as the centerpiece of a French indie film score. As the latest installment of our quarantine series, violist and violinist Will Marshall recorded this pack in his home studio in Brooklyn, NY. He layered each instrument—two violins and one viola—eight times to craft the huge sound associated with disco strings.

The resulting one-shots and loops are soaring, emotive, nostalgic, and perfectly tailored for French house, nu-disco, pop, among many other dance music styles.

Splice-produced recording sessions and sample collections from acclaimed musicians with unique perspectives, with each pack focused on a specific instrument, sound or performance.

Eclipse Soundworks Undertow For u-he Zebra 2

Undertow for u-he Zebra 2

Eclipse Soundworks Undertow For u-he Zebra 2

Undertow for u-he Zebra 2 features 140 patches intended for cinematic underscore and deeply experimental atmospheric compositions, including:

  • 27 Atmospheres
  • 21 Drum Loops
  • 5 Leads
  • 40 Pads
  • 17 Plucks
  • 30 Sequences

In 2015, when Undertow was initially released for free or “pay what you want”, there were almost half as many patches, and due to the lack of proper MIDI equipment, there were no assignments for mod wheel, pitch bend or aftertouch, and only a few of them had XY assignments.

Undertow has undergone a complete overhaul. Now EVERYTHING has mod wheel and aftertouch assignments, and all of the pads, atmospheres and sequences have assignments for all four XY controls.

Even though this is technically a re-release, this is “the definitive version” of Undertow, complete with over 50 NEW PATCHES, inventive use of mod wheel, aftertouch, and an exhaustive amount of XY routing with a few hidden surprises you’re sure to enjoy.

Gravity Pack

Isotonik Studios Gravity Pack

MAKES MIDI BOUNCE
This Gravity Pack from LDM Design consists of 3 Polyphonic Midi Effect MaxforLive devices for Ableton Live based on the idea of a classic bouncing ball delay to help create some interesting sound design. All of the devices have exactly the same controls, but function a little differently.

This is a pack of 3 Polyphonic Midi Effect MaxforLive devices for Ableton Live based on the idea of a classic bouncing ball delay to help create some interesting sound design. All of the devices have exactly the same controls, but function a little differently.

Gravity Delay is a classic bouncing ball style delay

a) The time controls can be set in ms or sync time values and this will be the amount of time between the original note and the first repeat. Each successive repeat will then come more quickly as gravity acts on it.

b) The slider on the left acts much like a feedback control and will set how much the velocity will drop over the successive repeats.

c) The knob in the centre controls the probability of the device acting on incoming midi notes, much like the devices in the Chance 10 pack.

d) The slider on the right controls the rate of gravity which acts on the delay time.

e) The Gravity Delay has a small knob to introduce randomization to the initial delay time.

f) There is a trigger button at the bottom to force 100% probability while the button is pressed down. When this button is released the probability will return to the amount set with the knob.

Rippler is essentially the same thing in reverse, as if a stationary ball starts to jump higher each bounce.

Rippler has exactly the same controls, but it works in reverse. The delay time will start from nothing and increase according to the (anti-)gravity rate until the space between notes reaches the amount set in the time section. As if the bouncing ball begins on the floor and makes bigger and bigger bounces.

Ripplecoil combines the 2 so the ball has increasing sized jumps and then falls down with gravity. They can be used to make some nice interesting sound design. All devices are polyphonic.

Isotonik Studios Chance TEN ALP

By | December 23, 2020

Chance TEN

Isotonik Studios Chance TEN

PROBABILITY BASED INSPIRATION
The Chance TEN pack is a set of simple MaxforLive devices based on probability and randomness, inspired by the scripts used by Brian Eno. These MIDI devices allow you to set the probability of notes passing through or being altered, in their pitch and velocity values. Other devices use MIDI input to trigger parameters in Live. Creating these as single function devices allows you to mix and match as you like and create unique MIDI FX chains.

As a bonus, you also get one device which is not based on chance, a velocity sequencer which will change the velocity of any incoming notes, instantly adding movement and life to any dry MIDI

CHANCE TEN CONTENTS
Chance_Play

The Chance Ten Pack begins with Chance Play. Play whatever notes you like, or put them into Live’s piano roll, but only a certain percentage of those notes will play through.

Set the probability of any MIDI notes getting through the device and playing. PD (Preserve Downbeat) Mode will always let any note through which lands on the downbeat of any bar.

Chance_Transpose

This device lets you set the probability of any note being transposed by the amount you set. If you want more control, there is also a trigger which will transpose all notes when held down. When the trigger is released the probability will return to the amount previously set.

Chance_Repeat

When this device is triggered, any incoming note will be repeated. The delayed note distance from the initial note can be set in ms or sync times. Set the probability of any note triggering the device. The slider sets the velocity level of the repeated note. There is also a trigger button to have more hands on control, which works exactly as the above device.

Alt_Notes

This device allows you to set alternative notes to be assigned to particular MIDI notes. For each alternative, you can set the probability level of that note being played. If for example you set it to E3 & an E3 note comes in, probabilities are set for the possibility of that note being transposed by -12, 4, 7, 12, -5, -8 or 24 semitones. The transpose amounts can be set within 2 octaves above or below the initial note.

8 different specific incoming notes can be given individual alternate probabilities each.

Chance_Drillz

This device will trigger a glitchy stutter/beat repeat effect of your notes. There are probability controls for the speed of the drill and the duration. You can also set the probability of 3 velocity modes – level, rising and falling velocity. Again, you can trigger the device by probability, or by using the trigger button.

Chance_Note

Mid way through the Chance Ten line up the Chance Note device will allow you to set the probability of specific notes being triggered by incoming MIDI. The device doesn’t care what the incoming note is. Any notes will trigger a random note based on the probability values you set.

In the Device image, there is a 66% chance that your note will be replaced by a C#, D#, F, F#, G#, A# or B, with various degrees of probability for each note. You can set a particular scale and root note, which will remove the probability of notes which are not in the scale, and put the probability of the scale’s notes at 100% for each. This is supposed to be used as a starting point, then you can alter the probability for individual notes.

By default, the notes will play at the same octave as the initial MIDI note which comes into the device. You can also set the range of octave randomization /-.

Chance_Parameter

This device allows you to randomize any parameter in Live within a certain range of randomization. Map the parameter by clicking the Map button and then clicking any parameter in Live. Then the top dial can be used to control that parameter.

Turn the bottom dial to set the range of randomization, which is shown as a modulation ring around the top dial. Then the white indicator will move around randomly within that range. The randomization will occur every time a MIDI note passes through the device.

Use the slider to set the amount of smoothing between randomized values.

Chance_ParaTrigger

This device will allow any MIDI note to trigger a simple envelope to change the value of any parameter. After the parameter has been mapped, a MIDI on and off signals will cause the parameter to rise and fall.

Set the on/off values of the parameter using the range slider on the left. Smoothing values can be added using the slider at the top, for each the note on and note off triggers. The slider on the right allows you to set a mimimum velocity level in order to trigger the device. If a note with a lower velocity value comes through then it is ignored.

Midi_Panner

This device automatically connects to the panning for the Track in Live which holds the device. The panning is then modified either by LFO or by incoming MIDI.

Using the dials, you can set a relative centre for the panning movement, the range of panning, smoothing and randomization.

In LFO mode, you can set the LFO type and sync speed. In Note mode, the panning will alternate from left to right upon each incoming MIDI note. In this mode the 2 dials on the right can be used. The value change can be smoothed, and randomisation can be added.

Note mode can be useful for getting some movement into percussive sounds. If the sounds are more sustained, then smoothing will be necessary to avoid any clicks from sudden panning changes.

Chance_MIDIlay

This is a polyphonic MIDI delay device. Delay time can be set in ms or sync times. The slider acts as a feedback which sets the relative velocity drop of each successive note. Again you can set the probability of any given note triggering the device, or use the trigger for direct control.

Bonus Device – Velocity_Seq

Chance Ten concludes with a bonus device (it didn’t fit in with the probability theme but was too cool not to include) This device allows you to set a sequence of velocity values. Any incoming notes will take on the velocity level of the current step in the sequence. You can set between 2 and 16 steps. The range slider sets a minimum and maximum velocity level for the sliders above.

The right dial adds randomization to each velocity step in the sequence in relation to the values you have set.

Musical Sampling Boutique Drums Ruby KONTAKT

Boutique Drums Ruby

Musical Sampling Boutique Drums Ruby KONTAKT

Ruby is the first release of our Boutique Drums series. We consulted with our drummer Brian Scoggin (Casting Crowns) who curated a kit comprised of truly boutique drum pieces for this release. We also chose to record at Hey Hey Studios in Griffin, Georgia for it’s outstanding acoustics and engineering; a remarkable space providing a tasteful balance of both room and character.

Each of the eight mixes were created from scratch using an arsenal of processing tools, both hardware and software. We chose to develop the presets outside of Kontakt to deliver what we felt were precision mixes with the right amount of punch, balance and vibe while providing just enough headroom to treat well to additional processing.

Under the hood, Ruby also alternates between two different sets of hi-hat/ride multisamples; depending on how quickly you hit successive notes for the given articulation. The initial hit triggers the isolated sample while subsequent hits trigger repetition samples.

We’ve included five different hi-hat states of multisamples and live eighth-note grooves that automatically lock to your DAW’s tempo: tight, normal, slight-open, mid-open and all-open; grooves recorded at 90/120/140 BPM.

We’ve also developed what we consider to be a first – crossfadeable hi-hat grooves with release triggers. With the modwheel down, it’ll play the loop at it’s tightest hi-hat state. As you push the modwheel up, the hi-hat opens up. It’s pretty dang cool.

What’s Included:

  • Full drum kit curated by Brian Scoggin (Casting Crowns)
  • Kick, snare, cross stick, rimshot, three toms, ride (with crash), ride bell, two crashes, hihats, synced live hihat grooves (three recorded tempos – 90 / 120 / 140 BPM)
  • Trigger 2 presets for all eight mixes

Features:

  • Simple and intuitive mix interface
  • Eight interchangeable “baked-in” mix presets
  • Repetition sampling for all rides/hi-hat samples
  • Live eighth-note hi-hat grooves recorded at 90 / 120 / 140 BPM that sync to your DAW’s tempo
  • Crossfadeable hi-hat grooves (fades between five different hi-hat states; from tight to all-open)
  • Groove Speed control (Half/Normal/Double)
  • Adjustable Humanization feature (Off/Tight/Natural/Loose)
  • Assignable Kontakt outputs for each drum group
Specifications:

– Requires full retail version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or higher
– Free Kontakt Player NOT supported
– Recorded in 48khz / 24bit
– 8.6 GB compressed NCW format

Producer Loops Future Bass Essentials Vol.1-3 WAV MIDI

Producer Loops Future Bass Essentials Vol.1-3 WAV MIDI

‘Future Bass Essentials Vol 1-3’ by Producer Loops captures this breakout genre’s signature drops, pulsating synth chords, exotic percussion and more. These fifteen construction kits, inspired by pioneers such as Flume, Lido, and Cashmere Cat, provide all you need to create your next Future Bass banger. Inside you’ll find fifteen Kits brimming with synths, atmospheric FX, hypnotic pads, energetic chords, twinkly arps, vox drops, and more.

MIDI Files Included

Like so many other Producer Loops products, ‘Future Bass Essentials Vol 1-3’ includes MIDI files for the majority of musical phrases heard in each Kit, allowing you to seamlessly mix your favourite synths and samplers with the sounds contained in the pack.

Advantages of MIDI

While the supplied ACID/Apple Loops/REX files are extremely flexible and powerful, MIDI has the added benefit of allowing you to go to extremes of pitch and tempo beyond which the loops were originally recorded, with no time stretching or pitch shifting artefacts. Furthermore, you can make tweaks to the riffs so they fit perfectly into your existing mixes.

Dry/Wet Loops

For users looking to simply drag and drop, the ‘wet’ files contain all of the effects processing heard in the audio demos. But for producers looking to create their own effects mix, ‘dry’ loops are also included. Don’t like the wet loops? No problem; add your own effects.

Unlooped Riffs/Tails

This sample library also comes with unlooped/tail versions allowing you to end a phrase with the decay of the reverb/delay applied to the loop, another “Producer Loops” exclusive product feature.

Royalty-Free

All of the loops in this product are 100% Royalty-Free (including the vocal loops), so once purchased, you can use these loops in your commercial releases without having to pay any hidden costs.

Rhythmic Robot Platter KONTAKT

By | December 22, 2020

Platter

Rhythmic Robot Platter KONTAKT

Unique timewarped Optigan / String Synth hybrid!
Possibly our gnarliest, grungiest instrument yet, Platter is a kind of bastardised string synth hybrid, taking as its starting point a variety of synth waveforms but reimagining them as built into a vinyl-based replay machine. If a Solina and an Optigan were abandoned in an attic for fifty years and had babies, this is what they might sound like…

The core premise is quite a simple one: we took a variety of synth waveforms, but with a hefty bias towards the string-synth end of the spectrum, and had them pressed to custom dubplates by our local vinyl workshop. We deliberately didn’t go down the standard route of saw, sine, square for this one; instead, there are a couple of “synth staples” but also a batch of more orchestrally-themed sounds taken from old string synths and other more complex instruments. So instead of choosing “Pulse” or “Saw”, you’ve got things like “Symphonic”, “Baroque”, “Choral” and “Elegiac”. Not sure what that’s going to sound like? Try it and see

We then replayed these waves off their vinyl LPs on two vintage machines: a 1960s Dansette, and a 1910 hand-cranked portable 78 player complete with steel needle and built-in horn. The result of that process is two completely distinct sets of waves, one more-or-less true to the original sounds (but with a bit of crackle and wobble) and the other a savagely bandwidth-limited, thoroughly antique tone that warbles merrily along whenever you click in the oscillator’s Vintage switch.

The interface is where you take those starting points to the next level. You get three oscillators to play with and blend, each of which is freely selectable between the 60s wave and the Vintage version. Each wave has its own amp envelope and tremolo control (which can be set super-slow to allow the sound to fade in and out almost subliminally) plus a very useful high-pass filter. Dial this up high enough and you’re left with very little except hiss and crackle, which can be a great way to add a bit of Vintage character to a tone mainly comprised of two 60s-era waveforms on the other two dials.

On the right-hand end there’s a block that ties all three oscillators together using a common Filter circuit (complete with envelope), Valve saturation to push the sound harder, and the twin Needle and Groove controls. Needle controls an initial needle-down thump and simulates engaging the platters whenever you hit a key. Groove is a constant, 78rpm cyclic crackle sampled from the 1910 turntable and plays as long as you hold a note. Judicious use of these two controls can really help simulate the behaviour of an ageing Optigan-style machine. Plus of course there’s the Glitch control, for instant random patch creation (with a bias towards musically-useful patches). Click it and get immediate fresh inspiration!

On the rear panel are echo, reverb and rotary speaker sims plus modelled amp cab, all of which can take the sound in useful new directions very quickly and easily.

Platter is, fairly obviously, not a recreation: it’s an entirely original and deliberately oddball instrument. It excels at vintage-themed soundscapes, black-and-white horror movie soundtracks, moody steampunky swells, background music for turn-of-the-century punting trips along the rivers of Cambridge with a Victrola playing in the bow… if you want to timetravel your tracks into another age, Platter is here for you. Platter also plays nicely with others: try layering it with your patch of choice and then adjusting the HPFs so it doesn’t compete, and let it lend a sheen of vintage vinyl airiness to any tone you like. In combination or solo, this is very much the one to reach for when you want a nostalgic sepia filter over your lens!

Note: Requires the Full Retail version of Kontakt 4.2.3 or above (NOT compatible with the free Kontakt Player)

Jimpster Deep House Manoeuvre MULTIFORMAT

 Deep House Manoeuvre

Jimpster Deep House Manoeuvre MULTIFORMAT

We are proud to welcome Jimpster to our artist series! Deep House Manoeuvres is Jimpster’s first official sample library, and long-time fans will not be disappointed with this gorgeous debut. Expect a massive reinforcement to your audio tools with this 100% royalty free care package.

Producer, DJ, remixer, label boss, taste-maker. Jamie Odell wears many hats and wears them well. Under his Jimpster alias, he has become one the most revered deep house artists operating on the scene today. From his UK base, Jimpster has inadvertently become a standard-bearer and custodian of the authentic house sound, and carries this flag to the four corners of the world.

Despite early releases dating right back to 1991 on Jumpin’ & Pumpin’, it was his seminal debut LP ‘Messages From The Hub’ which established Jimpster as an artist of note back in the late 90’s. This LP brought critical acclaim and invites for collaborations and remixes for artists as diverse as Coldcut, Kirk Degiorgio, Lamb, Airto Moreira and Bob Marley. The music has flowed steadily and consistently since then, mostly on Freerange, with the 2006 excursion ‘Square Up’ on Ben Watt’s seminal Buzzin Fly label proving to be a (temporary) transfer of one London-based deep house icon to another.

2017 proved to be one of his strongest yet with his Silent Stars LP dropping in April, remixes for Adam Port and Kerri Chandler causing serious damage and his Step By Step track for Suol appearing in countless charts and holding the top spot on Traxsource for months. More recently we’ve seen him dropping serious heat for the dance floor in the form of Burning Up as well as a huge remix of Bawrut’s More Cowbell. His One EP from February this year proved he still has a knack for delivering dance floor gems with a soulful touch receiving love from the likes of Jamie 3:26, DJ Spinna, Osunlade and Opolopo to name a few.

With Jimpster still doing the business at globally renowned hotspots like Output (New York), Womb (Tokyo), and Watergate (Berlin), a slew of new music on the way including a new LP and with almost three decades of experience to draw on, we see clearly that the fire is still burning as brightly as ever.

“This is my first attempt at a sample pack and I found the process a lot more enjoyable than I was expecting! The first step was to decide on what to include which I based on what I personally like and dislike about sample packs and what I feel would be most useful and inspiring to the user.

I often get asked what helps define my production sound and I feel the combination of Fender Rhodes, Juno106 and Roland TR808 play a key part in my own sonic palette so I wanted to include plenty of chords, stabs, musical loops and rhythms from my favourite hardware machines. I also wanted to focus on producing a lot of rhythmic top loops, i.e percussion, hihats, claps, all programmed and recorded with a live, organic feeling to capture that looseness which brings life to a groove.

On some of the drum and percussion sounds you may find a little space at the start of the samples which is intentionally edited that way to give that extra bit of ‘air’, helping to get away from an overly quantised feel. Rather than producing complete ‘kits’ of loops which all fit together in key to effectively produce a ‘complete’ snapshot of a track, I’ve produced a larger variation of musical loops including stabs, filtering arpeggios, deep pads and strings so you can find inspiration and then tweak and edit to make something fresh and unique.

Have fun with the sounds and I look forward to hearing how they can play a part in your own productions!
