Goldbaby Cookbook 2 v1.2 For Ableton Live 11 [ALP]

Goldbaby Cookbook 2 v1.2 ALP

The acclaimed soundware producer returns with his second massive collection of contemporary samples, Racks, Simpler instruments and complete Live Sets.

Already regarded as a studio essential by many producers of hip-hop, grime, trap, DnB and other contemporary styles around the world, Cookbook 2 – the sequel to the equally essential Cookbook 1 – is now available as a fully integrated Live Pack.

The 3000+ one-shot samples at the core of Cookbook 2 are dominated by the beautifully saturated drums and percussion for which Goldbaby is best known. All the expected kit elements are copiously represented – kicks, snares, claps, rims, toms, hi-hats and cymbals – as well as a ton of congas, bongos, bells, shakers, woodblocks and more. However, the Pack also encompasses an expansive selection of basses, synths, FX and layering tools guaranteed to sate any beat maker’s creative appetite.

The drum and percussion samples take in both electronic and acoustic sources, such as the Roland TR-808, Jomox M.Brane 11, Gretsch drum kit, Zildjian cymbals, Pearl Drum-X and Electron Machinedrum, while the synths and samplers utilised include the Akai MPC60, Korg MS-20, E-MU SP-12, Moog Slim Phatty, Teenage Engineering OP1, Native Instruments Reaktor and Waldorf Blofeld. And as with the original Cookbook, Goldbaby has spared no expense or effort in the processing department, infusing every sound with warmth, crunch, punch and vibe through the deft use of vintage samplers, dub plates, tape and an Aladdin’s cave of high-end analogue outboard.

Samples can, of course, be imported directly into your Live sets from the Browser, but Goldbaby has also compiled many of them into 87 mix-ready Drum Racks. 49 of these are drum kits; the rest comprise 11 FX kits (risers, impacts, etc), 19 Hits and Chords kits (pads, leads, etc), and 8 Vox kits (vocal cut-ups and shots). The Drum Racks can be deployed as is, or freely customised by dragging pads and samples in from other Racks and the library as a whole. In addition, 9 multisampled Instrument Racks with mapped Macros and 22 Simpler instruments provide more synths, 17 basses and an array of chromatic percussion; and ten Live Sets serve as flexible starting points for your own compositional flow.

Over 200 sampled loops deliver instant rhythmic inspiration, and a toolbox of clicks, subs, vinyl crackles, digital noises, scrapes and other textural sounds is on hand for beefing up kicks, adding grit and bite to snares, and working general dirt and flavour into your grooves.

Goldbaby Cookbook 3 v1.2 For Ableton Live 11 [ALP]

Goldbaby Cookbook 3 v1.2 ALP

The in-demand sample producer returns with the third part in the Urban Cookbook series – another hard-hitting toolkit of beats, bass and much more for modern styles.

Through a determined focus on sound quality, Goldbaby has built a reputation for making some of the best instruments and sound sets for production. Here they serve up another collection from their popular Cookbook series, aimed at hip-hop, dubstep, grime, drum & bass and breaks, but just as good for house, techno and other styles.

This third installment is made up of sounds that are, in Goldbaby’s words, “packed full of saturated fat, MSGs, a heap of sugar and certainly not suitable for a low-cholesterol diet.” Sounds bad for the waistline, but it’s a fair assessment of the heavy hitting fullness some of these sounds carry. Kicks, hats, snares and claps and other drum fundamentals are round, warm, crisp and full with plenty of textural options. Plus there’s great variation in the supporting cymbals, toms and percussive hits.

Alongside are plenty of vinyl-sample and chord hits, bass instruments, layering tools, drum loops and more. At just over 1 GB of sounds, there’s more than enough to keep you sated for rhythmic samples.

Open Secret

The special ingredient in Goldbaby’s full-fat recipe is no secret: experimentation with gain staging and processing combinations using their Aladdin’s cave of vintage gear. Pre-amps, EQ and dynamics processors, plus pedals and other analog processors are used to give sounds their warm, full character. The list of sound sources reads like a collector’s wish list of classic drum machines and synths. Also used are selected modern machines, top quality acoustic drums and a sprinkling of field recordings.

Inside the Pack

As well as individual hits and loops, the sounds are split up into playable Drum Racks made up of drum kits, FXs and other hits; 25 Simpler instruments with playable chromatic bass drums, congas, pipes and other sounds; plus a handful of Instruments Racks of synths sounds and tools for arpeggios and layering sounds.

Breakdown of contents

  • 100 ready-to-play Drum Racks, including 50 drum kits, 25 hits and chords, 15 perc kits, 10 vox and FX
  • 8 Instrument Racks – creative tools for layering, generating rhythms and other uses
  • 32 Simpler instruments, including chromatic drums, bass, synth hits and more
  • 1.2 GB of individual samples, split into drum type, chord hits, loops and more

Sonic Faction Hypermorph v1.3 For Max For Live [ALP]

Sonic Faction Hypermorph v1.3 For Max For Live [ALP]

Mix or mutate between four independent sound sources using a flexible morph matrix and a Push-ready modulation sequencer – Hypermorph offers a playful way to create rapidly changing or evolving sounds.

It’s this Max for Live instrument’s playful, intuitive controls that open up such a wealth of possibilities for sound design. Transform or glide between four independent sound sources using the XY Morph Matrix, or use the creative Morph Sequencer to blend, mutate and layer different synth tones and timbres.

The sound sources come from an array of modern analog and digital synthesizers, and are made up of a mix of beefy oscillators, wavetables, FM textures and custom one-shots. Combine this tonal flexibility with its built-in Morph Sequencer: you’ll be blending elements together in unusual ways, and heading into unfamiliar sonic territory.

Morph method

Some of the most interesting and distinctive sounds in electronic music are created by recording multiple takes on the same theme – having different instruments play the same melody for example – and then weaving them back together to create a completely new sound or timbre.

This technique becomes a lot simpler with Hypermorph. Its built-in Morph Sequencer can automate the entire process, letting you to play notes and tweak controls while the instrument switches between four distinct sound sources.

XY modes

At the core of the instrument is the XY Morph Matrix which can be moved manually to find the perfect balance of tones. Or use it to morph your sound automatically, using the following modes:

  • XY: Standard manual movement for discovering and layering sources.
  • Gravity: Moving the Morph Node and releasing it causes it to bounce using physical movement emulation.
  • Draw: Draw your own curve and the Morph Node will play it back.
  • Click: Click different spots on the Morph Matrix and it will replay those points in order.
  • Seq: Arrange steps on the built-in Morph Sequencer to achieve unique choppy rhythms and dynamically changing Morph patterns.

Tactile control

Push users can take hands-on control of Hypermorph’s Morph Matrix for tactile and playful experimentation. Play ping pong with your sound by bouncing the Morph Node around in Gravity mode, or access Hypermorph’s built-in Sequencer directly from Push to automate the Morph Matrix in realtime.

Parameters are grouped and easily accessible via Push’s encoders, plus you can map macros to multiple controls for even more sonic mayhem. Hypermorph’s control functions also work on Novation’s Launchpad series and other grid-based controllers.

Sonic Faction Polytek v1.3 For Max For Live [ALP]

Sonic Faction Polytek v1.3 For Max For Live

Polytek is a versatile and creative Max for Live instrument combining step sequencing, vocoding and multiband gating, using Analog and Sampler as sound sources.

Polytek is an innovative new Max for Live instrument that fuses rhythmic and melodic sequencing to generate an infinite constellation of funky, enigmatic patterns. Its ‘multiband’ sequencer triggers Live’s Analog synth or Sampler, the raw tones of which are processed using a comprehensive array of onboard processors and effects. From deep tech progressions and ambient dub soundscapes to choppy synth grooves and gritty robotic polyrhythms, Polytek can add a layer of subtly shifting dynamics to any track.

Polytek’s intuitive layout makes step sequencing easy and fun. The sequencer can be set to cycle through any number of steps from one to 16, and is divided into four frequency-split lanes, each hosting its own playback speed and direction controls. Simply click notes into each lane in the Rhythm page and mix up the playback settings between them for complex evolving polyrhythms. Then set the Note and Octave offset for each step in the Melodic page, and activate one of 18 chord shapes to build harmonies.

The Routing Matrix lets you select Analog or Sampler as a sound source, with key controls made available directly in the Polytek interface, and Sampler including its own library of custom samples. Your chosen source can then be routed to either the Vocoder or Multiband gating system, followed by Polytek’s resonator bank and physical modeling engine. The resonators add harmonics and filtering, while the Physical Modeling section simulates the sonic effect of strings, pipes, membranes and more.

Polytek also includes an arsenal of FX modules comprising Reverb, Saturator, Delay, Auto Pan and Chorus; and the internal Preset system enables effortless saving of rhythmic, melodic and sound design settings, as well as on-the-fly recall of entire patterns.

Mellisonic Polyphylla v1.4 For Max For Live [ALP]

Mellisonic Polyphylla v1.4 For Max For Live [ALP]

Polyphylla is a new Max For Live instrument that makes additive synthesis accessible and fun. Aimed at electronic music producers as well as experimental composers, music educators and production novices, you’ll master it in minutes but make amazing sounds with it for years to come.

Boiling a complex under-the-hood architecture down to a concise set of around 50 editable parameters, organised in a clean, clear interface, Polyphylla prioritises approachability and ease of use, without sacrificing depth or quality of results.

At the heart of the synth is a flexible 120-partial additive oscillator coupled to an analogue-style noise generator, each with its own multimode filter. The oscillator offers three methods by which to generate and edit a base harmonic spectrum: simple analogue waveform emulation, knob-driven stochastic microtuning, and detailed graphical control of 32 partial groups. The noise generator, meanwhile, can be overdriven for extra grit.

Harmonic movement and dynamics are introduced to the signal using a powerful arsenal of fractal-inspired Motion processors. Level modulation of all partials together over time is drawn into the Motif Editor, while the Sweep, Attractor, Deform and Drift effects warp, bend and generally reshape them collectively and individually. Immediately informative real-time visual feedback on the partials and their playback is provided by the 2D Spectrum and 3D Motion Views.

Further animation is dialled in via an array of modulation sources, including two envelopes, two LFOs, velocity and aftertouch, visibly assignable to most of Polyphylla’s parameters. Harmonizer, ring modulation, chorus and reverb effects are also on hand for polishing and mangling the final sound.

Polyphylla excels at evocative ambiences, moving pads, rich textures and out-there experimental noises – although it’s also perfectly capable of generating rich basses, punchy leads and other bread and butter sounds. Experienced synthesists will love its speedy workflow and stellar sonics, while beginners will find the intuitive, fuss-free layout a welcome departure from the bewildering interfaces of other additive synths.

Polyphylla requires Max 7 which you can download from your Ableton account.

Skinnerbox Time & Timbre v2.1 For Max For Live

Skinnerbox Time & Timbre v2.1 For Max For Live [ALP]

Skinnerbox Time & Timbre v2.1 For Max For Live [ALP]

The updated Time & Timbre comes crammed with devices for integrating its unique groove capabilities throughout your music-making process. It’s now compatible with the new Push – but whatever way you use it you’ll be brimming with rhythmic ideas.

In the process of updating their Time & Timbre for the new Push, Skinnerbox have ramped up the toolkit’s creative capabilities. Now you can use Time to experiment with intricate polyrhythms, subtle variations and unique swing – then apply all that groove throughout your productions.

Here’s a rundown of Time & Timbre’s features:

Time is great for complex polyrhythms, subtle rhythmic variations and adding a unique swing to drums. For each of its six channels, you can define sequence length and beat divisions freely and independently. Apply swing to any notes in your pattern (not only 4ths, 8ths and 16ths) or add accents and rolls to individuals steps.

Timbre consists of five drum synth modules. They’re great for synthesizing punchy, crisp drums – and equally as good for making completely unconventional sounds. Add to your patterns any degree of subtle variation or chaos: randomize each drum voice, or modulate its parameters using the Time’s internal LFOs or the external TimeLFO device.

Time Sting is a sequence generator – great for firing up ideas for leads and basslines with any soft or external synth. You can randomize sequences or take detailed control over parameters, as well as export from the sequencer into MIDI clips. And as the smiley face suggests, it’s happiest making acid-style lines.

Time Delay uses Time’s groove engine to create a rhythmic delay that fits perfectly alongside a swinging groove. Instead of on-the-grid echoes, you can sync the effect to Time for an effect that’s full of rhythmic complexity.

Time LFO lets you control any MIDI parameter with polyrhythmic, groove-induced modulations. Or Follow the Time sequencer to modulate parameters with the exact same swing peculiarities.

Time LFO.CV outputs a control voltage through your audio interface to control your external analog hardware. The device also sends out a clock signal, so if you have sequencers with clock input TimeLFO.CV can send them groovey signals (Note that you will need an interface with DC-coupled outputs for proper operation).

Integration with Push

Time & Timbre can take over Push’s sequencer with a completely customized layout. The setup reimagines how to use the unit to build beats and trigger patterns.

Free devices for modular setups

Available for free on the Skinnerbox site is another pair of creative CV devices. CV4Live lets you control any Live parameter by translating an incoming audio signal into control information, while Clock4Live allows you to use analog clocks and triggers with Live. Use Live as an extension of your modular synthesizer: control Live’s tempo, modulate samples with your hardware LFOs, fire one-shots using your Eurorack sequencers – let your wires run wild!

Surreal Machines Dub Machines v1.3 For Max For Live

Surreal Machines Dub Machines v1.3 For Max For Live [ALP]

Surreal Machines Dub Machines v1.3 For Max For Live [ALP]

Dub Machines is a pair of expertly designed Max for Live devices that reproduce, and expand on the sound of classic tape and analog delays. With vintage character, extensive control and deep sound-shaping capabilities, Dub Machines is ready to take any sound into space.

Magnetic

Magnetic is based on one of the most beloved tape delays of the 1970s. To capture all the nuances of the original, Surreal Machines started by measuring the distortion, frequency response, errors and mechanical noise of an actual hardware unit. As a result, Magnetic is a delay that oozes with nonlinearities and, true to the original, includes multiple gain stages, tape hysteresis, capstan wobble – not even the dry signal comes out the way it went in.

Magnetic comes with a high-quality internal convolution reverb with samples of classic spring and plate reverbs, early digital halls, plus several more radically character-altering spaces. And, in addition to the parallel system that original hardware units had, Magnetic’s reverb can be switched pre or post echo.

Two different reverse options for classic tape or stompbox behaviors are included. Several other tape delays from the period were examined and carefully crafted into new breeds of four different machine styles – all with a control to tone back or exaggerate character.

The TM404 studio in Södermalm, Stockholm, containing the actual hardware units that were sampled for the making of Dub Machines.

Diffuse

Is it delay? Is it reverb? It’s Diffuse, and most importantly, it’s lush and full of character. With a sophisticated feedback network under the hood, Diffuse can produce short virtual spaces, otherworldly atmospheric swells, and everything in between.

Diffuse gives you complete control over smearing, echoes and dampening and features plenty of the nonlinearities and smooth tape style delay changes of hardware. As with Magnetic, all relevant parameters can be tweaked directly in the device interface.

Some of the more advanced features include a digital rectifier to add some top end and sizzle and “Pump” – a specially designed dynamics tool to duck the delay out of the way of the dry signal and pull it back up again for long sustained trails.

Surreal Machines Transient Machines v1.2 For Max For Live

Surreal Machines Transient Machines v1.2 For Max For Live [ALP]

Surreal Machines Transient Machines v1.2 For Max For Live

Transient Machines is a Max for Live Pack that allows for deep sound-shaping possibilities. Modelled after the transient designers found in professional recording studios, Transient Machines is a versatile tool for reshaping the dynamics of drums, loops, and much more.

Created by Surreal Machines (the same team behind the excellent Dub Machines Pack), Transient Machines is a new dynamic processor Pack for Live that gives users the ability to deeply reshape the transient signals in their productions using simple controls and an intuitive interface. With Transient Machines, you have the ability to easily punch up the attack on your snares and claps, shorten the decay on boomy kick drums and toms, or just creatively sculpt the transient properties of all types of audio.

Think of Transient Machines as a type of contrast dial for your sounds — you can quickly add more punch, make a sound more distant, take away reverb or rattle, or use the device to achieve a more natural gating effect. Primarily intended for use with drums and percussive loops, Transient Machines can also lead to interesting results when applied to synth lines, vocals, grouped channels or even entire mixes.

Compatible with Push right out of the box, the Transient Machines Pack is split up into two separate tools: Impact, a multi-band drum processing channel strip, and Crack, a more compact transient shaper.

Impact

Impact is designed to help with the more nitty-gritty, detail-oriented aims of transient shaping. The multi-channel processor is switchable between one, two or three bands of transient modification — this means that different frequency bands can be adjusted independently, so that if you wanted to emphasize the attack of some airy hi-hats while, in the same sample, dulling the attack of a low-rumbling kick drum, you could do simply by adjusting the Attack and Sustain controls for each frequency band.

As part of its dynamic processing chain, Impact also includes four switchable styles of analog-modelled saturation, along with a final processing section that includes a clipper, limiter and a maximizer designed specifically to work with transient materials. This ensures that you are not only able to shape your transients exactly how you want, but you can also add some additional character to your sounds in the process.

Crack

Crack is the workhorse of the Transient Machines pack. The compact transient shaper is ideal for more utility purposes, such as adjusting the properties of a single drum sound or quickly adjusting a loop. In addition, Crack also features Dry/Wet signal controls, enabling you to make interesting blends using both the processed audio and the original signal.

Like Impact, Crack features a custom limiter for peak reduction, soft analog-modeled clipping, and a maximizer specially tuned for use with transient materials.

Modeselektor Extended Sounds v1.1 For Ableton Live 11 [ALP]

Modeselektor Extended Sounds v1.1 For Ableton Live 11 [ALP]

Extended Sounds offers a deep dive into the creative and artistic world of Modeselektor. This Pack samples a huge variety of synths and drum machines from their arsenal of classic studio gear and wraps them up in wild effects with eminently-playable presets.

Created with the same ethos as their 2021 album Extended, the Extended Sounds Pack gives you access to many of the classic and distinctive sounds that have kept Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary’s Modeselektor project at the forefront of electronic music for almost two decades. Whether you’re making speaker-rattling boom-bap, gritty techno, tweaked-out glitch, or – like Modeselektor themselves – a bit of everything, Extended Sounds delivers an extensive construction kit of handcrafted instruments, drum kits, MIDI clips, Effect Racks and presets to incorporate into your projects.

Strong Foundations

At the heart of the Pack are more than 2000 crisply-recorded samples from some of the most sought-after pieces of equipment in the Modeselektor studio. These versatile, expressive and impactful multi-sampled synths and drum machines are then distinctively processed through complex effects routings. Live’s native synths receive the same treatment, giving Wavetable and Operator that signature Modeselektor grit.

Macro Madness

While the samples themselves may be pristinely recorded, one look at the Pack’s effects chains tells you that Bronsert and Szary didn’t intend for them to stay that way for long. The Macro Variations introduced in Live 11 are often the first thing you’ll see when loading an instrument, Drum or Effect Rack from this Pack, and beyond the uniquely Modeselektor preset names you’ll find crushing distortion, heavily-modulated resonators and scuzzy reverbs, all multi-mapped for quick control over the chaos within.

Building Blocks

The demo Live Sets found in Extended Sounds offer a fascinating insight into how the duo build and arrange their tracks, while the included MIDI clips further break down how they construct the foundations of their music. Divided into useful subfolders for easy integration into your work, combine the clips with drum kits and instruments to quickly explore new configurations of sound, rhythm and melody.

The Extended Sounds Pack from Modeselektor is a complete production toolkit from one of electronic music’s most enduring acts. It provides a fascinating insight into their sound by way of a one-of-a-kind selection of samples, synths and effects to use in your own productions.

Hypnus Records Slink Devices v1.2 For Max For Live ALP

Hypnus Records Slink Devices v1.2 For Max For Live

Developed by Hypnus Records’ founder Michel Iseneld and Alexander Berg (Dorisburg), in collaboration with Chaos Culture, this Pack contains three devices – Slink Filter, Slink LFO / Slink LFO CV, and Slink MIDI. Just as a body of water can go from calm, undulating ripples to wild and unpredictable whitewater, these devices can transform sounds in both gentle and dramatic ways.

Slink Filter

Slink Filter is a creative filter bank comprising 32 bandpass filters, whose amplitude is automated by the movement of the Slink wave engine. Add some analog-flavored drift and wobble to a basic synth patch through gentle modulation of the frequency spectrum or delve into the Advanced tab and create captivating, ever-changing spectral stereo morphing effects.

Slink LFO / Slink LFO CV

Slink LFO uses the Slink wave to generate distinctive, interconnected modulation. With 16 modulation signals and 32 possible outputs, it’s possible to modulate almost any parameter in a project and tweak it with a few simple controls. External MIDI input from another track can trigger the LFO’s Sample & Hold section to accentuate an existing synth line’s musicality, for example, while the CV version uses those same diverse modulation signals to control your CV-enabled outboard gear.

Slink MIDI

Slink MIDI is a complex note generator and sequencer controlled by two independent Slink wave engines. The first wave triggers notes above a set threshold, while the second modulates their pitch within a chosen musical scale. Set the scale and root note to work in and add emphasis to particular notes and harmonic intervals with the Color knob. Play around with note trigger speeds using the 16 clock dividers, each with a choice of three trigger conditions, to create complex sequences with organic rhythmic feel.
