D.A.V.E. The Drummer Track from Scratch TUTORIAL

D.A.V.E. The Drummer Track from Scratch TUTORIAL

Learn from techno master D.A.V.E. The Drummer as he builds a track from scratch with Ableton 11 and external hardware instruments.

Hailing from the illegal warehouse party scene that exploded in London during the 1990’s, DJ & producer Henry Cullen (D.A.V.E. The Drummer) started techno label Hydraulix as an outlet for his own musical ideas. The label intended to bridge the gap between the Acid Techno of his previous work and the new, darker sound that D.A.V.E. was experimenting with in the studio.

D.A.V.E.’s more recent work reflects a shift toward a darker, more stripped-back techno sound. The label remains at the forefront of the techno scene, winning respect from DJs around the world and constantly taking on fresh young artists and releasing tracks by seasoned Hydraulix regulars.

Still a busy DJ and producer, D.A.V.E. has released numerous remixes and originals for labels including Fine Audio, Noom, Reklusive, Naked Lunch, Phobiq, Elektrax, Techburst and of course Hydraulix, Apex and Mutate To Survive.

In this course, D.A.V.E. teaches you how to build a techno track from scratch. You’ll learn how to record hardware instruments into your DAW, and how to successfully navigate all of the new features Ableton Live 11 has to offer.

DAW: Ableton Live
Total runtime: 4hrs 35mins

This course includes both the Ableton Live 11 project and stems of the whole track. All the 3rd party plugins have been swapped out with native Ableton ones to make it universal to all Live 11 users. If you don’t have Ableton Live 11 you’ll still be able to use the stems included in the download.

Versilian Studios Snares WAV

Can’t get that snare to fit in the mix? Snares has the answer, with five unique instruments recorded in a real concert hall, sporting up to three different microphone positions to choose from. These drums work great in pop as well as classical and feature a wide variety of techniques including samples with both the snares on and off for several of the instruments. Each hit sample has two takes, one for each hand, which you can map to different keys or pads to play alternating left and right like a real snare drum. In addition, several different dynamic levels are present for each sound. The Main mics present a clean stereo image, while the Overhead and Close capture the strike of the drum. The Snare mic, underneath the drum, captures the rattle of the snares. As a bonus, the fifth drum, a rope tension snare drum (the kind used during the American Revolutionary War), was sampled tuned to various pitches for one of the most unique snare sounds out there!

336 Sounds

Versilian Studios is a small company devoted to creating unique, well-constructed, and affordable sample libraries for composers. Our product line is centered around orchestral instruments, but we sometimes branch out and include ethnic, rare, and just plain weird instruments. We pride ourselves in our prompt and personal customer service, highly playable instruments, and having a bit of fun along the way. VS began producing virtual instruments in 2013, offering a unique Fretless Zither instrument. Since then, it has grown to work with a network of independent composers, performers, artists, designers, and scripters to create quality virtual instruments and sample packs for the modern composer and producer, currently encompassing more than 20 unique orchestral and world products.

VANGELIS For Omnisphere 2

VANGELIS For Omnisphere 2

Vangelis for Omnisphere is a tribute soundset of synth emulations and Vangelis-inspired sounds, carefully created by closely studying some of the classics Vangelis composed throughout his life. The collection contains 115 presets, divided among 90 patches and 25 multis.

The soundset is inspired by the music of Vangelis. From the early era of L’Apocalypse des Animaux and Opera Sauvage, to later compositions such as his film score to the Oscar-winning Chariots of Fire and Koreyoshi Kurahara’s film Antarctica, to solo albums like The City and Direct, Voices and Oceanic, and of course, his immortal and epic soundtrack to the 1982 Ridley Scott sci-fi classic film Blade Runner.

Vangelis has influenced theoutput like no one else, and in everyrelease, there’s always a bit of Vangelis. His ability to compose melodies – as if they were a direct extension of his emotions – is somethingalways aims to channel into the creation of his own sounds. This is a humble and personal tribute to honor the legacy of a giant.

Some of the emulations include the CS-80 synth lead from the Blade Runner Main Titles, the Koto-sounding synth key from Theme from Antarctica, the mesmerizing arpeggio from Fields of Coral, the synth brass as heard in Five Circles; a recreation of the fragile and delicate synth key from Le Petite Fille de la Mer, and the classic harmonica/synth lead from Blade Runner Blues, plus many more emulations and Vangelis-inspired sounds.

Listen to the demos below. All sounds in the YouTube video and the main demo on SoundCloud are straight from the Vangelis soundset. There is no external processing of any kind, no EQ, no compression, and no other sounds or effects used.

But the soundbank is much more than emulations. It also contains synth presets, freely inspired by Vangelis’ music in general. Expressive synth keys, pads and strings, synthesized harps, sound effects of rain and wind, synth leads, and basses. All drawing inspiration from sounds we imagine Vangelis could have designed himself, and used in his compositions. As an extra, the set comes with 22 FX Rack Presets which are effect presets, creatively and freely inspired by the reverb of Vangelis and the Lexicon 224.

All the presets in the set possess great attention to detail. They are authentic to Vangelis, being expressive and extremely velocity-sensitive. Modwheel and aftertouch play an essential part in the performance of most of the sounds.

The Vangelis soundset is 52 MB and requires Omnisphere v2.8 or later. The presets are sorted in official Spectrasonics categories and have a few dB of headroom reserved. A PDF guide is included that describes how to install the set. There are four patches ported over from the soundsetAmbient 2, among them the Hymne preset (which is revisited in this release) but also the Blade Runner Main and two others. So if you haveAmbient 2, you will already have a few of the presets.

He has received worldwide support from acclaimed DJs such as Avicii, Swedish House Mafia,Tiësto, Dada Life and Fedde le Grand and was named an EDM artist to watch in 2012 by MTV. One of the most incredible things about dance music is its never-ending search for innovation; new sounds, new styles, new projects, always moving forward. KO:YU is an artist who embodies that ethos. Previously known under the name Deniz Koyu – a shortened version of his birth name – KO:YU has already achieved far more than most. But his new project is set to be the most exciting step in his musical career since he laid his hands on piano keys at the age of five.

Sonic Collective Gayageum WAV

Sonic Collective Gayageum WAV

Sonic Collective Gayageum WAV

The gayageum is a traditional plucked zither and is one of the most iconic Korean instruments. Often with 12 strings, but upwards of 25, it is an incredibly versatile string instrument. For this sample collection, Sonic Collective and Found Sound Nation teamed up with Kyungso Park, renowned gayageum performer, improviser and composer, to prepare a mix of rhythmic melodies and short gestures, drawing influences from “earth, metal, wood, and silk.” The samples included here were recorded in Kyungso’s studio apartment in Seoul, South Korea.

Kyungso’s work challenges those who see the nearly thousand year old gayageum as merely a ‘museum piece’, and seeks to redefine the Gayageum for the 21st century. The diversity of styles and melodies on this pack ranges from spaced-out, house-like rhythms to dazzling melodic runs and more.

Produced by Found Sound Nation

Edited and mixed by Chris Botta & Enayet Kabir

  • 77 one shots
  • 127 loops
