Reason RE McDSP FRG-4RE Compressor v1.0.4 WIN
The FRG-4RE Rack Extension plug-in is a feed-forward reactive gain compressor (FRG), referred to by McDSP engineering staff as ‘the frog’. The FRG-4RE’s features include a modern compression topology, separately adjustable attack and release controls, and a wide compression ratio control spread, ranging from nearly 1:1 to 20:1.
FRG means Feed-forward Reactive Gain, referring to the the compression algorithm style used in the FRG-4RE Rack Extension plug-in. The FRG-4RE can compress your audio into submission, or gently tweak your track.
Crushing drums are on the menu with the FRG-4RE. Turn the threshold, attack and release controls to their minimum value (all the way to the left), while setting the compression ratio to maximum (all the way to the right). Adjust output gain as needed. Feed in snares, kicks, toms, etc. The FRG-4RE is ready to eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Not hungry for sonic destruction? No problem. The FRG-4RE compression ratio control has a wide pallette, so if 20:1 is not the soup of the day, try some medium settings (all the knobs straight up). Guitars, pianos, synths – a moderate amount of compression is like a good ham sandwich.
If soup or ham sandwiches are not your cup of tea, then try the FRG-4RE with threshold, attack and release at their medium settings (straight up), but with ratio set to 2:1 or less (all the way to the left). Just a spoon full of compression makes the music track get down.
Remember, frogs aren’t just for breakfast. The FRG-4RE might be just the thing to make your tracks tasty.
