Rubicon Cycle of Drone WAV
Composed by Mexican producer Nico, Cycle of Drone steps away from more conventional sample fare and into the abstract. Exploring various approaches to drone, it eschews tempo altogether, distributing sounds according to mood instead. Folders are named Morning, Afternoon and Night, signifying three separate dispositions or colors:
Morning contains sounds sedate and soothing, but also expectant and hopeful.
Afternoon is deeper abstraction, reaching the somewhat colder edges of noise and heavier drone. There is now some tension and maybe anxiety, but it’s still contained.
Night is the bottom rung: full terror and sonic oblivion. Here guitars make an appearance, reaching into the depths of drone metal, as well as harsher harmonies and eerie sound design.
Cycle of Drone pushes the boundaries of a traditional sample pack and will be useful to film composers as well as sound designers seeking layers and atmospheres for experimental environments.
