Groove3 Choir: Omnia Essentials Explained [TUTORIAL]
Need a choir? With Choir: Omnia Essentials from Native Instruments, you’ll have it in spades. In this Choir: Omnia video course, Groove3 instructor Larry Holcombe takes you on a deep dive into this amazing VI and shows you all you need to know in order to start using it on your very next production. From using the sample phrases to creating your own syllables and/or words, triggering changes with keyswitches on the fly, and much more, it’s all covered here. Simply put, if you want to use this instrument in your productions, you’re in the right place. These videos are designed for new Choir: Omnia Essentials users.
Larry starts by giving you a quick tour of the interface, demonstrating how to navigate the instrument efficiently. He also explains how the instrument’s architecture is set up, along with some common usage scenarios. Then it’s on to the subject of vowels and syllables, where you’ll learn how these can be triggered in two different ways: using keyswitches while playing a MIDI controller or with the onboard sequencer.
Next, Larry will focus on keyswitches specifically, demonstrating how to change syllables, articulations, and more with the keyswitches, which are located on the bottom range of the MIDI keyboard. This is useful for swiftly sketching out ideas or making complex changes on the fly. Then it’s on to the sequencer, where you’ll see how to create your own syllable combinations, edit the existing sample phrases, and more. To finish off the course, Larry covers the FX and Settings pages. On the FX page, you’ll have access to different reverbs, EQ, and Stereo Spread parameters, whereas the Settings page will offer more variables that will affect the sound of the choir, such as round robins, dynamic curve, etc., as well as CPU strain.
Choir: Omnia Essentials, despite being a “lite” version of the full instrument, is still a serious, heavyweight choral instrument, and this course will help you understand how to best use it in ways that make sense to you. Whether you just want to mess around with the sample phrases and presets or you want to really get into the weeds, editing and/or creating your own phrases from scratch, this course is what you need. Check out the individual Choir: Omnia video tutorial descriptions for more information on what’s included in the course and how you can use the instrument in your own tracks, beats, scores, and more.
