Hailing from the American South-East, Deloyd Elze is an artist, songwriter, and
producer based out of East Los Angeles. With “Redfisher,” Elze unveils his
distinctive approach to blending organic and synthetic elements, seamlessly
melding pristine tones with gritty textures.
At the heart of this collection lies Elze’s meticulous process, where he stretches,
smears, blurs, tunes, and arranges diverse patterns derived from improvisations
and micro-compositions. These sonic explorations are further refined through an
array of processes, including revered tools like the OP-1, Hologram’s Microcosm
and Chroma Console, and Chase Bliss’s Genloss MKII. Pairing alongside gems
like the Marantz PMD 221 and a first addition amp built by Nick Greer named
“Michelle”.
Drawing from an eclectic array of instruments, Elze captures the essence of a
bygone era with a cherished 210ce Taylor, Fender Mustang Bass, a pawn shop
Lap Steel, a Parts-Caster modded Telecaster, among others. Acoustic
recordings are imbued with warmth and character, meticulously captured using
a Telefunken 251 clone hand built by Elze himself.
The resulting soundscape is a tapestry of sonic oddities and carefully curated
textures, ranging from twangy guitar loops to lofi drums, from hauntingly
dissonant synths to the rich timbres of polyphonic acoustic instruments. This
diverse palette of sounds invites exploration across a spectrum of musical
genres, from the introspective realms of indie to the rhythmic pulse of hip hop
and electronic music.
With its blend of artistry and innovation, “Redfisher” promises to inspire
creativity and elevate compositions, offering a wealth of sonic possibilities to
adventurous musicians and producers alike.
