Plughugger Dark Mode For Omnisphere
Dark Mode is the 9th entry in our series of soundsets for Omnisphere 2 where we focus on one synthesizer, record the most important aspects of it, and recreate its characteristics in Omnisphere.
Dark Mode is a collection of analog style sounds, based on the Leipzig-S synthesizer created by the British synthmaker Analogue Solutions. The Leipzig-S is a monophonic analog synthesizer that at first glance can remind you of the Minimoog, but has a much rawer tone, more advanced modulators and a built-in sequencer that can also function as a high-speed modulator.
With Dark Mode, we let the Leipzig lead the way and let it take us where it wanted to go. While it certainly can create classic analog style of leads and sounds, the Leipzig truly shines when it comes to filtered bass sounds, synthetic sounding drums and quirky sequences. For this soundset we sampled quite a lot of original material, from the clean oscillators to drums and complex modulated sounds.
As a bonus, we also recorded a handful of our favourite sounds through a Sherman Filterbank to give the sound an extra layer of attitude, and built up new sounds in Omnisphere around these waveforms.
Dark Mode contains 244 sounds in the following categories:
- 63 Bass / Lead Arpeggios / Sequences
- 26 Drums and Percussion
- 16 Effect and Hit sounds
- 19 Pads / Synth strings
- 36 Bass sounds
- 26 Synth sounds
- 8 Textures and Soundscapes
- 50 Multi sounds
Plus 126 INIT sounds for each soundsource available in Dark Mode (many of them are pitch variations of the same sound).
